Solutions to what ails our democracy

While there are many possible solutions (such as non-partisan redistricting and non-partisan primaries) to what ails our democracy, the Texas Forward Party is laser-focused on implementing Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) as a first step.

Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) is a system that allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference. By giving voters the ability to select backup choices, even if their preferred candidate is eliminated, ranked choice voting ensures that candidates with broader appeal are more likely to succeed. This can help counter the impact of gerrymandered districts designed to favor a particular party, as well as reduce the reliance on extreme positions to win partisan primaries.

As a result, ranked choice voting promotes a more diverse and representative pool of candidates, fostering a political landscape that is less susceptible to the negative effects of gerrymandering and polarized primaries.
