Texas Forward Party Appoints Attorney John Flud as Harris County Chair
HOUSTON, Texas – The Texas Forward Party State Executive Committee has appointed Attorney John Flud to serve as the Harris County Chair of the Forward Party on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026.
Flud is a two-time graduate of Houston Christian University, previously known as Houston Baptist University, where he graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors for his Bachelor’s of Arts in 2011 and his Master’s of Arts in 2013. Flud completed his J.D. with Summa Cum Laude honors at South Texas College of Law in 2018 where he was a member of Delta Theta Phi.
Having earned three degrees from within the Houston city limits, Flud said the focus of the county party under his leadership will be on local elections.
“I’m honored to have been appointed as Chair of the Forward Party of Harris County.” Flud said.
“For voters, it means the Forward Party is showing up locally,” Flud said. “Listening, organizing, and working to earn trust (of voters) by focusing on solutions, not sides.”
The newly appointed chair takes an active role in his community, previously supporting people as a volunteer attorney through Lone Star Legal Aid for those who may be unable to afford representation otherwise. Additionally, Flud has served as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors for Access Builds Children.
Now that the vacancy is filled with someone who understands how to navigate the law and legal proceedings, Flud said the Forward Party of Harris County can set the foundation for a strong future for a party built to achieve success.
“To me, this appointment is about responsibility and momentum,” Flud said. “It’s a chance to help build a serious, durable alternative for people in Harris County who are tired of being forced into choices that don’t reflect their values.”
Flud assumes leadership as the party prepares for a critical infrastructure-building year. His immediate priority is organizing the county for the County Precinct Conventions in March, paving the road to the State Convention in April.
